As someone who has built something very similar for a lot cheaper I'm just a little opposed to paying $300 for a library of opensource information that I could download myself, Hardware of this can be built for under $50 so $250 for a cherrypicked list of the internet kind of hurts me. this may inspire me to make my own library and put it out for free. I think it really comes down to how much is your time searching and downloading worth. I'm willing to spend time to build out my own library but I definitely don't blame anyone for being willing to pay to save time.

Yeah, I'm a simple civilian with a small budget (Kids wife and cruddy job.) I have a 5.56 PMSA platform while I may not be able to reach long range targets as well as you. I feel that in the environment I would be operating in I would be fairly okay. we have no straight lines of fire here so optimal range for me would be 60 yards maximum. there's not really much elevation here unless you're in a tree stand here. what is your opinion?

That’s a good mental math trick, but begs the question, why not just mil it in your scope? Reticles like the MSR2 will get you on target or super close without guessing and then your follow up shots are very easy to measure.

I find this tip I found here on the tube about cotton cloth dipped in heated floating petroleum jelly, then protected and adding fire time by dipping a couple of times in stearin to be a super nice way to start fires. Made a couple of hundreds of them now. :D
